7 people met at a business meeting. Each person shook hands with every other person. How many handshakes was exchanged?
Please explain how to do this. I think it is either Combination or permutation, Thanks!

Person A shook hands with the other 6
Person B shook hands five more times, not counting shaking with Person A.
Person C shook 4 more hands, not counting A or B.
D shook 3 more hands, not counting A, B, or C.
E shook 2 more.
And finally F shook hands with G.

6+5+4+3+2+1=21

For n persons the handshakes computation is:
S(n) = n(n-1)/2

So, for 7 persons => n =7

S(7) = 7(7-1)/2 = 7(6)/2 =21 handshakes
