Hi I dont know whether this is normal or not during pregnancy
(am 11.5 wks pregnant) but I have got really bad shoulder/back pains.
Am not taking any pain killers or anything and it is probably because my already heavy ample chested self has enlarged even more so, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this also.
Thanks

yeah me too. ive always had back problems which became much worse in pregnancy, but this time i have extreme arm, neck and shoulder pain too. am wondering what the hell is going on. im 23 weeks with twins and have gained loads of weight so far on my tummy, and my boobs have grown a lot but are not huge since i was flat chested to begin with. it couldnt be the boob thing, so am assuming its just a calcium thing or circulation under pressure. it is a strange one!!

So we are not alone...well, I've had major shoulder blade area aching. I went this past weekend to a massage therapist who knew the cause. Okay ladies...it's the way you sleep. I know all of us have never been a side only sleeper, right? Well, since we are side sleeping now, the opposite shoulder caves in toward your chest which is what is causing the pain. To help relieve the pain, 1) while laying on your side, try keeping the shoulder you aren't sleeping aligned straight with your back...since our belly's are growing it may help to place your arm behind you as counter weight, 2)stretch your shoulder muscles by standing up against a wall and bending/stretching your arm. You do this by placing your arm out stretched parallel with the wall and move in the direction where your arm is being bent back towards your back. Hope this help ladies.

Yep. I'm 20 weeks with #2 and have noticed a ton of back and shoulder pain. I also try to not take anything but I'm at work typing and am thinking about taking some Tylenol because I am super uncomfortable. Good luck!

I thought the shoulder and back pain was just me.
Im 7 weeks.
It seems like every time I try to go to sleep at night, My shoulder starts to really kill me, and my lower back hurts.
And sore boobs.. its all a bad combo.. it'll probably get worse.

i have the same problem! my shoulder, back and neck have been killing me. i thought it was because of my large chest too, but it could be part of the pregnancy....
the best way to solve this is by icing it, or applying heating pads on it. believe me it helps!

Ice it and use Ibuprofen. If its a nerve those 2 things will help. It could be a degenerated disc. You should have a chiropractor take a look.
