Galaxies and hurricanes. They have an extremely similar shape. I suppose this has alot to do with gravity. But it is interesting nevertheless. You you ever thought of this: Our solar system is like a giant atomic system? so mabe in a way we are just a tiny atom in a much larger element? It seems that most things in the universe are either circular or spiral in shape. And the same can be said if you look at an atom under a microscope. Its like a huge chain. Starts out small and continues to get unknowingly huge!

Hmmmm... Did I say that I was an expert? No! You act as though if you are offended by the question. Can you just simply answer the question? Ignorance comes in many forms. And your response to my question is one of those forms. All you have to do is answer the question.

To answer your question, yes it has more to do with artistic freedom. I'm just fascinated by the way things are and exist. Is there something wrong with that?

There's a connection between the things you mention. Gravity obeys an inverse square law, and so does the electrostatic force, so it's natural to expect a similarity between atoms and the solar system. The trouble is that atoms don't quite work out to be exactly analogous. Trying to force the analogy too far gets you into trouble.

And I suppose the link between galaxies and hurricanes comes from the matter in them being attracted to the center (one via gravity and the other by low pressure).

In a way we are broadly like an "atom" in the bigger picture but certainly not in any detailed sense.

That is an interesting analogy, but hurricanes are formed because of heat patterns on Earth, some galaxies do have a similar shape but that is where the comparison ends. Comparing our solar system to an atom leaves a lot to be desired, but you are right in comparing us as being a mere atom is respect to the size of the cosmos. It is fascinating.

Spiral galaxies and hurricanes are similar because (it is believed) they are both formed under conditions that are CONCEPTUALLY similar. Rotating dust clouds have many "hot spots" that become stars - but the overall rotation of the "cold" cloud is retained (due to Conservation of Momentum laws.)

Hurricanes form vortexes as well due to rotational forces. In the case of hurricanes, though, the rotational force is supplied by the Coriolis effect. (You can look that up on Wikipedia.org if you wish.)

Where your analogies fall down is that solar systems are massive items operating under Newtonian and Copernican laws of motion. Atoms operate under laws of quantum mechanics. Newtonian laws apply at the macro level but not at the atomic level. Different forces involved.

Nonetheless, you are correct that it is interesting to contemplate the variety of scales of matter that we have learned to see.

If you ever find a copy of Richard Matheson's "The Incredible Shrinking Man" you will find that you weren't even CLOSE to the first person to talk about the range from macrocosm to microcosm. (But don't go for the movie - it was not a fully faithful adaptation.)

The idea that our solar system is like a giant atomic system is quite old and many people have though about it and even written science fiction stories about it. But planets and stars are nothing like electrons and protons. So it is really just fiction as far as we know.

This is an idea that I also have thought about in the past, the similaritys are very alike arent they? Good question, The one above me several up always has a negative veiw on things,,

What are you trying to demonstrate? Artistic freedom in dealing with facts or just plain ignorance?
