Why not? Some people connect every little thing to Autism. Truth is, no one really knows what causes Autism, they are still looking at different things like heavy metals in the system and brain damage due to difficult birth and amalgam fillings and a leaky gut. So why not aspartame too?

Possibly that are starting to link more and more things to autism. For example, there are shot out there that are given to babies with a drug called thymerosol that they are currently linking to autism. So ever since my son started receiving his first immunizations, I always double check and make sure that he's not receiving this drug. In fact, most of the flu shots available contain this drug and I forbid my son to receive a flu shot with the drug in it, I had a friend who's son was diagnose with Autism and she believes that it's a result of the immunizations he received.

Personally, I think the mass conspiracy theory is a little.. well, hoaxy. But a quick Google search reveals lots of suspected problems with aspartame..

you just never know... it seems like one moment they say how safe something is and then the next they say to stop using it. I personally do not like artificial sweetners. I noticed I have had a headache when I have used them. I wonder if that particular link is under research?

"They" are saying that. I used to treat autistic children, and some chemiclas adhere to the testosterone causing autism more than others. ( which is why there are more autistic boys, than girls). Some children are more sensitive to certain chemicals, as well; which explains why the MMR vaccination affects some children and some not. Some autistic children improve with wheat free/ gluten free diets, some do not.

Autisum is a birth disorder, not something that happens later.
