I drive a 1992 Lincoln Continental, and I just broke the driver's side door handle from the outside. It can open from the inside, but just not the outside. The handle is still attached, I think i just pulled it up too far when trying to open it. How do I fix this? Also, if i have to take it in to fix it, how much will it cost?

The handle of my Honda Passport just fell off a few weeks ago. I actually heard the screws fall into the door, and the darn thing was just hanging on by the cables.

At any rate, it took about 10 minutes for the body shop to fix it for me. They only charged me for half an hour, which was $30.

Yours doesn't sound like exactly the same problem, but once the internal door panel is off, it should be a fairly easy fix for them. I think it would be worth stopping by to ask them for a quote. They might need to order a new part, which might add expense, but it would be worth having the piece in stock when you bring it in, just to save on the amount of time you have to keep it in the shop.

the same thing happened to my car door today! i thought someone was trying to break into my car, and broke the handle in the process... but i guess it was just old or something.
i phoned the auto shop in walmart and they said they can't fix it.. but i guess an auto shop (that does more than just oil changes) would be able to fix it for not too much money
