a freind or a stranger ... hurting their pet, would you intervene?

yes. i would put them on leash for hurting a innocent pet.

Absolutely. I have. I have a pit bull lying by my feet now. His name is Rocky. I didn't give him that name. They thought they were going to fight him, but he's a sweetie. He's more like a yellow lab.
I did a lot of pet rescue in my life. I'm in a smaller house now, but we still have a one-eyed German Shepherd mix (I got him because of the abuse which caused him to lose his eye), and 2 pit bulls.

totally. i have no respect for ANYONE that hurts or beats their animals. its like they are trying to prove themselves tough- except for the fact that they can ONLY beat up ANIMALs. intervene. i promise you will feel better, and you may even save that animals life.
