Should a woman who has a miscarriage at 4 weeks be tried for murder? When a woman has her monthly menstral cycle eggs are being destroyed. Does she also deserve a murder charge? Both are instants of 'killing a living thing' as you put it.

As the courts have rightly found, an embryo does not constitute a viable human life and therefore can not possibly be considered murder. Up to 12 weeks that embryo is incapable of surviving outside of the womb, no matter what. Since 99.9% of abortions are performed prior to 12 weeks, there is no crime involved.

Why not? Because many choose to take the legalistic approach that says that a fetus is not a living being unless it is viable outside of the human body. Under our penal codes, it is not murder until viability.

On the other hand, if you are a person of faith or someone who values human life including potential human life, then you would see it as murder. The issue is, and has been, when does life begin. It's been debated for over three decades and there appears to be no solution.

Because technically there's no heart beat until the sixth week; so technically it's not living.
And clearly it has to be living in order to consider the procedure murderous.
I'm pro-choice up until that point..

But honestly.. why can't you people drop the situation? We'll never agree. It's pathetic. Pro-choicer's do nothing wrong except abort. Mind your own business. What you do with your body is your business. What I do to my body is my own business.

I completely agree with Backcountry B.
You take the egg from the chicken and cook it.
At least I didn't cook what I aborted. :]

If the fetus is not actually a living being why is a person charged with murder for killing one in any other way then abortion?

I've always wondered about the term "pro life". Kind of general isn't it? Wouldn't "pro fetus", or "pro human birth" be more accurate? If you were truly pro life wouldn't you be as outraged over the greed based wars the U.S. is currently waging? And what about all these wonderful babies that women would be forced to give birth to in your wonderful abortion free world? Who's going to make sure they have a decent start in life after being carried for nine (or eight or seven) months in the womb of women (or girls) who never wanted them to begin with, you? No, it's just your self appointed responsibility to make sure they're born right? After that screw 'em. It's their fault if they don't crawl away from their dysfunctional homes within their first 24 hours of life to better themselves.

Ok, first off this "thing" is not and can not live on it's own outside the womb, can it?

A baby born to term on the other hand can.

It's not such a cut and dry or black and white issue that you pro-lifers want it to be.

How is killing the abortion clinic workers NOT murder?

I would just love to see some pro-lifer actually raise the baby of the rapist that got their wife pregnant as his own child.....I'd like to see the pro-lifer that has to make the decision of your wife or the baby due to medical complications...one of them will die, choose which one.

Oh...in that case, then keep abortion legal huh?

Killing a cow to eat it, must be murder then as well.

I wonder what carrots are thinking as they are ripped out of the ground?

I don't like abortion, but also don't like the government butting into an individual's business either.

Because it's not.

It's the killing of a clump of cells, not a thinking, living, breathing human being. Virtually ALL Pro-Choice people will agree that third trimester abortions should be illegal...Before that...Its' simply not a human.

By the way, have you ever squished an ant ? Used bug-spray ? Killed a cockroach ? Yeah ??? YOU MURDEROUS EVIL KILLER !!! See what I mean ? Get off your high horse.

Some people go by religious law or belief that the soul is infused into the zygote by God. Other people, (the majority of the US population) go by the secular law as it is now written.

Cause they see a fetus as a tumor and they want to get rid of it so they can go back to humping for their fun time.
