I travel to Orlando on business several times a year. My employer's US headquarters is there. (Near University of Central Florida)

If you're going to be there long term ( a couple of weeks or more) Crestwood Suites. They have several locations around Orlando, I've stayed at the one near UCF. Basic, clean, no frills. They have tv w/ cable, free wireless internet, kitchenette w/ full size refridgerator, cooktop and microwave oven, and furnish the pots, pans, plates and utensils. Guest laundry. no pool, no workout room. They have smoking and nonsmoking floors. The walls were well soundproofed.

Call them rather than make reservations online. If you are going to be there long term, they may give you a better rate if you contact them directly. The longer you plan on staying, the better the rate they will give you.

Also check rooms for let in the Orlando area in their local paper The Orlando Sentinel. One of my coworkers met an older couple who lease out rooms in their home and that's where he stays when we have to go into Orlando for extended periods of time.

Your more inexpensive hotels will be further away from the parks and tourist traps and downtown, but be careful of going too cheap. The hurricane season they were hit with 4 hurricanes in a row (was that 4 or 5 years ago), some hotels are STILL trying to rebuild and remodel, and they are leasing rooms cheaper than usual because the guest have to put up with construction noises.

A place to rent comes with its features and facilities available in the neighborhood. Rates are determined based on demand. So it is your budget that counts. Nothing is cheap as everything has its price.
