AHA. I'm 13 and i had the same problem a couple of months ago. I thought a super would be too big but it really made no difference. So don't be worried, I really couldn't tell. And no, your not at a high risk for infections. If you leak through a regular than you should be using a super, your only at a higher risk for infections if its way to absorbent for your flow. (ex: light period, super plus tampon).

For super tampons I like Tampax Compak Super.

Hello. I am sorry to hear you lost your Mom. That must make it tough on you having to figure out alot of the stuff we go through on your own. I used to have the same problem, though. My periods were sooo heavy I couldn't use tampons and I would soak through a pad so fast I would have to sit on a towel - it was horrible. Then by chance I found a website that carries a product that changed my life. It is a menstrual cup made from medical grade silicone. You use it like a tampon, only it holds everything until you empty it. There is no risk of infection because, unlike a tampon, the cup keeps your vagina and cervix moisturized with your natural fluid. You never have to worry about bleeding through, or swimming with it. Best of all, you only have to buy ONE!!! It's around $30, but think about all the money you will save having to buy pads or tampons. It also eliminates environmental waste. You also don't have to worry about being embarrased to tell your Dad or anyone else that you have run out of pads and need to get more. Please visit their website. They have a picture of it and all the info you need. I use a menstrual cup exclusively now and I would NEVER go back. I have a normal life now and never have to worry when I am on my period!!! If you have any questions about it, you can feel free to email me. Take Care.

P.S. I am not paid to say any of this, I just am so happy about how it improved my quality of living that I wish all women knew about it.

How long are you keeping the regular tampon in?

For the first two days, chances are you have a heavier flow than for the rest of your period. Change your tampon every four hours or so instead of six to eight hours.

If after four hours of wearing you are 'soaked', i.e. bleeding through to your underwear, then it is time to think about using a hgher absorbency.

It must be hard living with your dad but if you have any concerns about how heavy your flow is then I would ask to go see your doctor. Chances are you're absolutely fine though!

I would stay with a lower absorbency and just change the tampon more often. if you use one that is too hight of an absorbency it will put you at a higher risk of developing toxic shock syndrome. look for brands that are made specifically for teens because they will be slimmer and more safe.

Don't worry about TSS--it's very very rare. Just use the correct absorbency according to your flow. Super or super plus for heavier days, regular for lighter days. Change them every 4-6 hours and you'll be fine!

if you change the tamponevery 4-6 hours then your at no higher risk for infection then with regular obsorbancy just make sure you change them at the right time and wear a pad to bed actualy infections are coused when you dont change them anougp and use a obsorbancy thats to high for you

You can use a higher absorbancy if you need it so super is fine. Just use it on your heavy days though.

If you need a larger size, use it. But during your period when the bleeding slows down, switch back to the regular size. Also, you can use a mini pad with the tampon for better coverage.

If I were you to use a lower absortbency and change the tampon more often, if you need to. But don't leave it all day. There is good chance getting a TSS. If you leave it in most of day.
