Unfortunately, you will keep getting these tickets because, it's agains the law to drive with an unregistered vehicle. Currently, they are giving you fix it tickets, however after a certain period of time from the date of your expired registration (in CA it is 6 months) if you get pulled over, they will not give you a ticket, but they will impound your car.

You'll have to get your car fixed, or be faced with the option of not driving, or get your car towed and impounded. Maybe see if you can borrow money from some family, or work extra hours to get it fixed.

If you don't have money to repair it, perhaps you shouldn't be driving it, as it's against the law to driving an unsmogged vehicle, since you're polluting the air that the rest of us breath. (And yes, I live in CA)

And why would the city of the cops pay or take back the tickets? They are perfectly valid, and they are letting you off easy by giving you a fix-it ticket, which is $10, plus cost of repair the vehicle. If you still refuse to fix it, the tickets become overdue, unpaid, and go to collections by having $250 tacked on as penalty, and collection agency start calling you...

Then next time you get pulled over they'll impound your car for severely overdue fines, or as the other guy says, for unregistered vehicle.

Be nice to cops, and they'll be at least not rude. If you always act so exasperated, no wonder cops would be rude to you. I've never had any problems with cops, and I've had my share of tickets (heck, even had my license suspended twice for some BS reasons).

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.healthboostpc.com

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

You could go to court on the tickets and try to plead your case, hoping the judge will take pity on you, but it prolly won't work. You have to get the car fixed, so best put it on a credit card or something.

It might be something really minor, like PCV valve. If you need serious engine work, consider taking the bus and save your money.

In California its a crime what they put people through. Insurance is high smog checks are so tough that in other states your car would pass but if you bring it to california it fails.

You are right, but in California because its mostly run by liberals who believe in big goverment, you have that problem.

Move out of California to a red state.

I do activities and set up chores on the head end to avoid the lonely feeling. I always have a pile of things to work on to keep the mind occupied too. I have an advantage in that I prefer being alone.
