First all I completeley disagree with your basic premise that a lot of comedians die of drug overdoses. I would be trully surprised if the actual number was over 5% Stand -up comedy is the most difficult performing art that one could ever do >The reason that it's so damned diffucult to do is that the success or failure of a single punch line or set piece is known immediatley. Comics go from heaven to hell and back again in literally seconds .To further complicate the problem comics are usually all alone on the stage with just their perfoming ability and their material to save them from catastrophe When a bit works , it feels better than sex does But when it doesn't then living in Hell would be an improvement. Either to level that all out or worse to keep the high from performing going ,more than a few comics resort to substance abuse and sadly a small percentage of them die from overdoses

Well...pick one...Sam Kinnison, John Belushia, I dont think either smoked while doing thier set though...Adrew Dice Clay did...he's still alive though...you my whish he was dead, but sorry..

the only comedian i can think of is chris farley...he was awesome...and he did die from drugs......
oh yeah, did rodney dangerfield die from drugs i cant remember, i know he smoked a lot though....
