Good! He supports the Fair Tax. I like the Fair Tax. He also supports the second amendment (and for the right reasons). He also is the only top Republican candidate that is genuine.

I'm not very happy about this.. If the GOP nominates him, Senator Clinton (assuming she recieves the democratic nomination) would win by a land slide). Huckabee has a record of tax hikes (an estimated half a billion dollars and favoring amnesty for illegal immigrants (including supporting a measure giving them drivers licenses).. he was already under investigation for ethics violations and his pardoning of a rapist will come back to haunt him. And republicans seem to be missing something, a major factor in this election is the war in Iraq (an estimated 70% of Americans are opposed to it) do you honestly think this country is going to elect another candidate that not only wants to continue it, but one that also stated he would enter war with Iran without the consent of Congress?

Sociald, I agree completely.
While Huckabee is a likeable guy and obviously has a big heart, I don't think he has what it takes to lead this country completely.
A perfect example was on the CNN youtube debate when they asked him if he would fund a mission to mars just when they got done discussing how to CUT spending. I don't think Huckabee would want to screw over the American people, but I think he just has a big heart and wants to be "fair" all of the time, which isn't possible.

I think he is a genuine honest man. But I dont think he has a handle on what is most important or what needs to be done.. not enough so at least.
On the drivers licenses for illegals issue he had done Romney told him "its not your money". When he said he wanted to expand the space program shortly after they all discussed how the economy was failing and they would need to cut spending, Tancredo told him 'thats one program we cant afford'.
Some things Huckabee just doesnt seem to get.

He's a Christian Minister... 'nuff said.
Of course he will move ahead in the midwest and south. But the business folks in the GOP never quite agree with the fundies.
And he won't pull any liberals in the Republican sphere because of his anti-gay measures.
He'll rally the fundies with that stuff but no one else.
Bush was able to please fiscals and social cons with his ideas... Huckabee only has the social cons.

I think it's amazing! And, I disagree with Heartfire, saying that Huck rocketed up. He has been trucking along just like the rest of them. It's all his hard work and the sanity of the voters!
Oh, and in response to those who say he can't beat Clinton ... they actively campaigned against him TWICE in Arkansas and he won TWICE!

Huckabee isn't ahead anywhere, its just the press distorting him as an "up and comer" even though the reality is that he's floundering. Christian conservatives are his only supporters.

I don't trust the polls. The Polls are manipulated by the different companies performing them so that they can support a certain nominee. We will see who is ahead when the actual election rolls around. Until then, I don't trust anything that is trying to buy my vote by saying my candidate has no chance.

the media is hyping him up. Probably because they see him as exactly like Bush so as to set up the Democrats with a way to attack Bush all year.

I think it might be a devine intervention by God. Huckabee rocketed from an obscured corner to 2nd place in the polls.
