I am always late on the new techie things. I know these have been around a few years. We thought they would be nice presents for great Grandmas. Even the ones without computers. What do you think? They are expensive by moderate standards. Would you buy one for yourself or like it for a gift?

My husband wants a digital picture frame for Christmas. I don't. I like the old-fashioned picture albums. I'm comfortable with technology but realize how quickly it changes. I want my family photographs to be available to later generations. Think of how quickly computers become obsolete. Even VHS video tapes are a thing of the past. I'm afraid that the digital picture frame would break-down in a couple of years and the pictures would be lost forever.

I would like one too. But I found another way to do the same thing with my laptop. Every picture on my hard drive shuffles, fades and appears for about 5 seconds each. The slide show starts after a period of idle time.

Go to your CONTROL PANEL
Click APPEARANCE & THEMES
Then DISPLAY
Then SCREEN SAVER
Under Screen Saver click on the other SCREEN SAVER
Under that click MY PICTURE SLIDE SHOW
Go through the rest of the buttons WAIT 5 (seconds)
Go into MY PICTURES SCREEN SAVER OPTIONS
You want it to fill the screen LARGER 100%
Check box USE TRANSITION
Check box ALLOW SCROLLING
Fill in the other boxes and SAVE!

I hope that satisfies your need, if Santa doesn't bring you a digital picture frame!

I agree that they are a bit pricey. I've thought about buying one for myself; but I haven't because I use the photo's on the hard drive of my computer running as a slide show for a screen saver. I think I'd like one as a gift, it would be almost like a photo album.

I don't know that I would but one, but if I got one as a gift with the pictures in it I would really enjoy it. I am not tech. literate so that is why I would probably not but one and want the pictured already in there.

Yes, I would and have bought them for gifts and one for us!

My son needed a camera.
For his birthday I I bought him a camera and a digitial picture frame.
Was not sure what I got told him. I told him, if he did not like it I would take it back.....He loved it..
He set it up and it is real nice!
Yesterday I sent my husband to Sears to get two more. One for us and one for a gift .
I also bought these digital Photo Keychain's (stores 60 pictures) on sale for $12.00 for two grandsons!
Happy Holidays!

I think it's a great gift for grandparents. I wouldn't buy one for myself. I probably wouldn't like one for a gift. I think the idea is neat.

I use mine on my desk every day.
Most don't need a computer you just load the pictures onto a memory card and insert that into the frame.
Hope this helps
