There are documented cases of people contracting Herpes Whitlow after handling dentures sans gloves. Although some people say yes you can catch it that way, and others say no (needing skin to skin contact) , I say, why risk it? How badly do you really want that coffee and does she have any money to replace it with her? In the future she needs to keep her lips on her own drinks, or pour out a small amount for her to drink on the side. It is rude to drink out of other people's glasses when you have an active herpes lesion. YUCK!! I have oral herpes myself (thanks to a dental technician in the way back when they did not wear gloves all the time) and I would NEVER do that to someone. Your friend needs manners and about $2.00 to replace your iced coffee...

No, not really. I don't really drink coffee though. I don't really drink through straws either.

NO! It'll burn the roof of your mouth.
On the other hand, drinking cola without a straw wrecks teeth.
