I have a 1995 Geo Prizm. It is a four door vehicle. Both driver's side doors are stuck shut. The handle, interior and exterior are broken. I need to replace the outer handle and apparently a mechanism on the inside of the door. How can I fix this? Will I be able to get the door panels off if i can't open the doors? How? Is there anywhere that has a diagram of the operating system of the door?

Those handles aren't broken. They were specially designed by GM to keep it's customers from driving crap automobiles. Honestly, I'm suprised they took so long to engage.

A repair manual like Chilton or Haynes will have diagrams and instructions for removing them...parts stores usually carry them for around 25.00 or libraries sometimes do also...Toyota Corolla is the same car and is actually what the Prizm is, just rebadged as a Chevy. Only way to get the door panels off is by removing the seats to allow room for this. Sometimes, you can manually operate the latch with a long, stiff rod by slipping it down the opening where the glass comes up through the door if you can peer down in there to see where the latch rods (to the handles) hook up to the latch....they may have disconnected from the handles. There should be four levers on the latch...one is for the inside lock button, one is for the outside lock (where you put the key in), one is for the inside handle and one is for the outside handle. Your goal is to get one of the latch levers for the inside or outside handles to move enough to open the lock.

Take a Phillips screw driver and remove the door handle on the inside, take a pair of pliers grab the metal rood a pull it forward this should open the door. my wife's car had the same problem, and that is what I did , and call a savage yard to find replacements or you can go on-line and find new ones.

I used to have a purple Hyundai accessory. I have been given no end of grief from people for that. distinctive people assumed i became gay because of the fact of that motor vehicle. i'm only no longer a man or woman who will pay distinctive interest to insignificant exterior information like what shade a fricking motor vehicle is. i wanted a low value motor vehicle. That became the only that had the ideas i wanted...and so i offered it. i did no longer care what shade it became! It became a a freakin' Hyundai, for crying out loud! who's gonna get all particular approximately what shade a Hyundai is?? My accessory had no Lambo doorways. i'm assuming that's what scissor doorways are, even nonetheless i haven't encountered the term until now.

Where the inside door handles are there is a metal rod going from the handle to the door latch assembly. Unlock the door with the lock knob, reach behind the door panel where the inside handle mouts and try to get a hold of the metal rod. Pull it forward and the door should open to help you remove the door panel to replace the outer handle.
