What to wear to a businiess Christmas party?

My friend's work is having a Christmas party, and I'm his "date." What should I wear? I know it has to be a dress, and I know that I want either a black dress, or a black and white dress. Any suggestions? Links would be nice too :) If you have any suggestions for shoes and jewelry that'd be great too. Thanks! :)

He works at some office with a lot of snooty people, so it has to be pretty dressy. And it's on a sat. Haha, I didn't think that would matter.

A lot depends on the nature of his job and of the party. Is it after work on a weeknight? or offsite on a Saturday night? at a club or other venue? But if it is a business party, in general you want to make every guy at the party envious of your friend without looking overtly sexy. And if you wear black or black & white, find a way to make it look Christmasy.

acutally I don't think it has to be a dres. how fancy is this party? banana republic has some great party type outfits on their website right now. And Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft aslo have some nice outfits.
