Ive just gotton a divorce from my husband of 10 yrs. I married him when i was 16 and i just turned 29. Im starting over with nothing only a place to stay. I didnt even finish high school let alone a GED. Ive never had to be responsible for myself now im lost as if i was still 16. Ive been sheltered now im out in the world i feel totally alone and lost. He has custody of the kids until i get on my feet. I have 0 credit and dont know where to start. Can someone point me in the right direction

Get a GED
Get a job
Get a starters credit card (Capital One takes would atke nearly anyone) , pay it faithfully to stablish some credit.
Stand on your own feet... yes you can do it and it will be an mpowering experience.

Do you have a lawyer? You will need one. Your ex should be paying some kind of support til you get on your feet. Be sure you have a provision for joint custody when you do get a job, etc. There may be programs in your city or state to help you get training or a job. Because of the Fair Credit Act your credit is the same as his credit. If you had credit together that is part of your record also. Call the United Way - they will be able to tell you what kind of services are available to help you. Good luck.

I had been divorced some years ago and then went through having my daughter have a freak accident and die. Some years later also in my 30's had met a guy and went to India to marry him and live there for sometime with his family starting my life all over. I've never had so much happiness in my life since. It's difficult at times in some ways...but in general was the smartest thing I've ever done. So I say do it! Without taking risks you never will have the opportunity to discover many joys you can gain by them. :) Merry Christmas to you and I wish you a wonderful new life.

You may be able to get some help from Social Services so I would start there. You may also need some help from another site I will give you as well. there are some jobs you can get without the high school diploma or a GED but you can study online and get those and improve your job prospects in time. You may have nothing now but that means you have more to gain. Remember the girl whose name I can't recall that was living on the street but managed to graduate near the top of her class at Harvard Law School! Good Luck to you!!

No one has "0" credit!
If you have NEVER had a credit card and NEVER had a loan your credit is much better than you think!
To start with DON'T use credit! It is okay to get a credit card but pay it off every month.
My guess is that you probably are getting alimony? Also do you have a job? If not finding a job would be my first priority!
There are many service industries that pay well and could care less about your education.

You have a lot. You have your health, a place to stay and youth. You can go back to school and get your diploma and then go to college. If you do what you have to do you could be finish in 5 years. You will be 34 with a degree and that's more than a lot of people who went to high school and finish could say. Get a job and start being responsible. Focus on getting your children back and finishing high school.

Get a job as a leasing agent in a local apartment community. Generally they'll give you a 20% discount on your rent, and you get to walk to work. You'll start out making decent enough money to support yourself, and can even move up the ranks to higher pay and a better position after several years. (You may need to get your GED first though...or at least lie about having a diploma).

Get a job if you don't have one....Then work on getting your GED.....so you can take some college classes if that is the path you wish to take....You will need to save up some money....I heard that Orchard bank offers credit cards to people with bad credit or no credit...so check them out...You can start building your credit up by using a credit card

I say you are starting over with EVERYTHING!!! You are still young and sound motivated. My mom got divorced @ age 55 and was able to start over and so can you!!! Definitely start out by getting your GED and getting into some type of educational program like Beautician School, Certificate type programs etc; Do it for your kids, they need you.
