I'm going to go through all the signs based on my experience with them. I'm an Aquarius, with a Scorpio moon and Capricorn Ascendant.

Aries- Loud, sometimes obnoxious. They generally calm down with age. They're full of energy and there's never boring, awkward moments with them.

Taurus- Very loyal, very clingy, down to earth. For some reason Taurans love me. I have one Tauran friend who calls me "Her Rock." She's my moss. Ahaaaha. Despite the attachment they get and how they can sometimes be suffocating, they make loyal, good friends.

Gemini- They are always bouncing off the walls and ususally have something fun to do or talk about. I'm never bored around a Gemini. They're great conversationalists.

Cancer- They're very warm, affectionate friends. I trust Cancers, and they usually are very self sacrificing and understanding.

Leo- Leos are a hit and miss with me. Sometimes they can be wonderful, energetic, warm, affectionate and so fun to be around. Then sometimes they can be whiney and back stabbers who cause wwaaaaay too much drama.

Virgo- Virgos are alright. They are pretty cool friends and I have a good time with them, but I've been lied to by just about every Virgo I've met. They also say things behind other peoples' backs.

Libra- Libras are pleasant people, and they're alright to hang out with. However, almost every Libra I know has lied or made stories up to sound smart.

Scorpio- I love Scorpios. They're really loyal, deep, and can connect with people. It takes a while to get in their inner circle, but once you're there, you're there for life. My Scorpio friends are some of my best.

Sagittarius- Sagittarians are SO fun. They're friendly, optimistic, adventurous, and usually fairly intelligent. They're interested in philosophical ideas, which really appeals to me.

Capricorn- I like Cappies. They aren't emotionally needy and they are down to earth and logical. They're also loyal and FUNNY.

Aquarius- All the Aquarians I know are extremley intelligent, and a bit quirkey. They're all friendly, in a kind of shy way, and really easy to talk to. They're also loyal, and remember you. They're hard to get close to, though, since they're aloof and emotionally detached.

Pisces- I have problems with most Pisceans. There are a few exceptions, but even the exceptions have some of the faults. They're lazy, wallow in self pity, they're emotionally needy, and they are dependant on others. I've put a lot of time and energy into Pisceans, only to be criticized and unappreciated. The exception is one of my best friends, whom I've known since I was two. Even though he's a good person, he's verrrry lazy. I would never want to live with a Pisces.

I think your answer to this would depend on what sign you are. So this question can have more than one answer, I would say.

I'm a Scorpittarius...more Sagittarius. And my best and closest friends that know just about everything about me are my cousin she's a Scorpio, a friend back home she's a Pisces, and a few others... Leo/Virgo cusp and Virgo/Libra cusp, Gemini, Leo, Aries, Aquarius, and another Scorpio.
The last couple ones are ones that have been in my life and were there for me, but we don't see each other often...if that makes any sense. (I've always had different groups of friends.)

Now, don't get me wrong, I believe astrology holds strong bearing over what type of personality we all have, but a loyal friend comes from character, not personality, and that is something we learn rather than are born with.

In other words, all signs have the potential to be loyal friends if they experienced loyalty in their lives growing up.

as a Leo it takes a lot for someone to find their place at my list of good friends, currently the list has only 3 people in it one of which i am not really sure about. 1 is my friend literally from birth, he is a Leo the other has been my friend for over 10 years, and i am 19 years old. he is an Aries. so to me its Aries and Leo. the Aries would follow me into hell.

This is from my life experience, i'm aquarius, if you are any of these signs don't take it to heart...i've actually found good in bad in all signs so there haha....

aries - loyal, no problems with them

taurus - wishy washy, hot headed...most have not been of my best interest, they act like informants and who wants that BULL____.....

gemini - most loyal, very good friends

cancer - they can be good friends but not to depend on

Leo - when i think of leos i think of a tv show, or the network itself...if you(suporting cast/show lineup) is not there to make them look good your @$$ is cut....

Libra - never had libra friends so i can't comment on them as friends

Virgo - they don't really care about you, they care about what your up to(see taurus for more info)

Scorpio - Can hold a good conversation... but can we talk about something else, besides that everything else is good.

Sagittarius - most have been backstabber's, but you want know it until its too late and the damage is already done... hell its the archer we're talking about and they go skills...

Capricorn - Interesting folk, they have strong beliefs so i respect them for that...

Aquarius - All of my true best friends have been aquarians because thats the only sign that understands me and maybe aries in a strange way lol

Pisces - we all have problems but damn, they have problems and they want you to be there shrink which leaves me all o.O.....stay away from this person....this is sag, virgo, taurus, etc wrapped into one ,with the appearance of a gemini, not falling for that **** again

anyone of them can be your best friend. it simply depends on who you mean by a best friend.

im a cancer and it takes cumulative years and experiences that comes with it for me to label someone as my best friend. 10 years minimum. lesser than that are just close friends to zilch. it may sound b****y as it is, the truth is, as you grow older, you would almost never end up having the same bestfriend you once had.

so, i just so happened to have a gemini (trust deteriorates over the years, despite that we were the craziest during our teenage years) and currently, a cap. astrologically, cap- cancer is a make or break. she, the cap is everything that im not, and im everything that she's not. the only thing we have in common is that we look alike! somehow we're going strong. somehow. hee hee.

A Cancer. They are loyal to their friends and least likely to stab you in the back. Good listeners and actually give a damn to help you out and also lend a shoulder to cry on-- sometimes it is hard for a cancer to trust someone but once they let you in, they will give their all and be a friend for life.
