We have a 1 year old puppy and this is her first Christmas with us (I think) and I am afraid that she will get at the tree when we are at work. She is out roaming the house during the daytime, and I don't want to have to cage her (she's our extra security)

ok i watch a looooooooooot of the dog whisperer, so you just have to be firm and consistent with her and let her know that she is not allowed to go near the tree. WATCH DOG WHISPERER! trust me it really helped me a lot!!!!! check your listings to see when it comes on

Put a barrier around the tree (and presents). Baby gates would work or some shelving panels (www.guineapigcages.com for where to get some and what they are).
You shouldn't use tinsel on the tree as it can cause problems if ingested by the dog.
