Well, he better get up in the polls. People call him "Mr Amnesty" but I say making illegals pay fines, closing down businesses that hire them, having them "get to the back of the line" and get naturalized properly, and building the wall(s) to help secure our borders and more border agents is NOT amnesty. We can't be like a bunch of commies and build a wall with concertine wire and machine guns blatantly gunning down people. America is the land of opportunity, as long as it's done properly and legally. It would be impossible to deport 12 million people. However, if we send a message to those here illegally by denying them employment until they "get legal" nothing will change.
I don't want some "hero" just because they were mayor of a city during 9-11, thinking he could handle an entire nation. Let alone someone who's never stepped foot in Iraq, or stood up to international dictators, or communist countries and lived to tell about it. I want someone in office who's "been there done that" and knows how to handle them--and McCain is the one.
EVERY candidate has something ALL of us don't like. Mine is Clinton and her past affiliation with a communist newspaper and their staff. DUH. I think McCain's immigration issue pales in comparison.
People say his age is an issue--what about Ron Paul? -- he's 72. Hypocrits, and he also has never stepped foot in Iraq or faced down international dictators. We don't need arm chair warriors, or those willing to cut and run and give Iran, North Korea, North Vietnam, or China the upper hand when it comes to protecting freedom.
McCain is NOT some "hero", but rather a true patriot from a long family lineage of patriots still serving his country for over 30 yrs.
We don't need some ex pres that was IMPEACHED--BACK in the White House doing the same old s***. DUH. What a travesty and mockery to those gone before him.
I'll vote for McCain even if he doesn't get the job, then I can tell all you clinton commies, or guliani "heros", and liberal traitors "told you so", just as the radical muslims and international dictators get their teeth into our a** because you wanted to "take America in a "different direction".

I have a problem with McCain-Feingold, an attempt to stifle democracy and free speech.
I also have a problem with the ideoloy that we are involved in a WWIII. This is incredibly unhistorical and an uneducated opinion.
McCain is just pandering to appear strong on national defense. But if he really cared he would pull our troops out of Iraq and pledge to go after our real enemies..... you know like that Osama bin Laden guy... yeah remember him..... no? What do you mean you were told Saddam Hussein and Mahmoud Ahmedinijad sent those planes into those towers in order to cause the Giant Terrorist Conspiracy accross the world to march on Washington.
Or maybe it was just Bin Laden...

You forgot, looked like an idiot claiming Iraq was a wonderful place while he strolled through the market place in bullet proof vest, with 19 body guards. How about taking all the political trickery from Bush in the 2000 election, and then selling out by being his lap dog for the following 7 years.

I support McCain a lot, but when you get excuses not to support him like the ones I see here, I realize Americans are just dumb parrots looking for talking points.
"McCain is tool old, he just does what Bush wants, he ignored the constitution".
Whatever. You're only as old as you feel, Bush's policies aren't inherently bad. Someone else adopting his policies could do it different and get results. A lot of people hate Bush and just want to hate his policies too, without any really good reason to besides they are his. Ignores the constitution? I'm sick of hearing this, no one is ignoring the constitution.

I can't vote for McCain because he towed the party line and supported Bush when he knew he was wrong. I need someone who puts country before party.

Though I'm not a Republican, I've liked McCain's independence and forthrightness. His stand on the war may be a problem for him, but I would not mind if he received the nomination.

He voted for Bush's illegal and immoral invasion of Iraq, he has publicly advocated military action against Iran and he supports the use of torture, extraordinary rendition, the suspension of habeas corpus, the continued existence of the American Gulag at Gitmo and Bush's illegitimate program of domestic spying. Frankly, I can't think of a more UN-AMERICAN candidate than McCain!

McCain in 2000 was everything you claim here. Since then, he has sold his soul to the devil and kissed the *** of anyone who he thinks will help him win. Half of the groups he called racist, or too extreme to speak too in 2000, he has been to several times this year. What will he give up next to win? Having said that though, I still think he will emerge as the Republicans choice.

What you see as principled, I see as bull headedness...I like McCain as a person and respect him for his time as a POW, but the last thing we need is another cowboy masquerading as a leader.
