I do remember the Green Shield stamps. It was like the Coop dividend.
Do not know when faded out, infact dont remember much about them I was too young...Yet put 'Green Shield stamps'
into the little web search box , press the magic button, and open the box.

Thirty years on, I'm still using a pair of good quality garden shears that I bought with Green Stamps. But I remember that saving the stamps was a bore.
Cheap imports of household items have made nonsense of all that licking and sticking.

S & H Green Stamps were phased out in the early eighties, They were used to recieve premiums for shopping at store that gave them out. There was also a yellow stamp called Top Value Stamps (Oh the good ol days)

I can remember them in the late 60's before they came along with a big stamp to take up a whole page. At one garage they did 20x on Mondays - when the button was pressed yards of them used to shoot across the floor.

I have a feeling that hey sort of morphed into Argos.

Yeah, I remember them, and the blue-chip stamps too. I recall my mom always saving them, but I don't seem to remember ever cashing them in. We had a bunch though! I think they faded away in the late 70's.

when i was a child my mother bought green shield tea, if you collected the sides of the tea packets with the green shield stamp on them depending on how many you took to the warehouse they gave you a prise, i got my first camera with 10 stamps, i was only 8 i think mum stopped buying the tea soon after, i do not know if they have stopped them now though

They were around still late 50's and early 60's I think but someone probably knows for sure....out there....

These were used a lot during the depression and used as a sales gimmick for stores if you will. The more you spent in their store the more items you could receive free. Once the US got back on their feet and things were okay they were phased out. Some companies still use items like this but they are used more for giving then receiving, sort of like when you save the box tops for General Mills products and the proceeds are given to the schools for the kids.

If you mean Green Stamps...Yes, I remember them. Actually, they are still around as S&H Greenpoints. The stamps faded away in the early 70's.
