ECs:
-volunteered at hospital, daycare, and a school--has over 200 hours. loves working with children.
-national honor society, spanish honor society, music honor society, VP of NHS.
-organized singing program where she taught little kids how to sing. the money eventually went to charity. she also organized several toy drives during the holidays.

Oh, she doesn't live in VA. Which I know will make it harder for her to get in.

She has great test scores and a weighted GPA above 4.0 -- she is qualified to go to any university in the country. Being qualified isn't enough (a place like Harvard probably rejects about 80% of QUALIFIED students who apply).

She needs to stand out compared to the other qualified students. Extracurriculars are important -- but they are easy to pad and hard to verify. Interviews and her admissions essay are where she will have to make an impression.

She may not get into Virginia -- but will certainly get into some good university.

As for why UVA -- it is one of the best public universities in the US and in a beautiful location. It would be a great place to get a degree.

She should apply to other schools of similar quality. She has a shot at schools like Duke, Cornell, Michigan, Berkeley and Penn. Harvard, Stanford and Princeton are possible -- but unlikely.

That's convenient seeing that the social gathering n vigour will get a fifty five-forty five break up of the donated cash. It won't look like plenty, however in 2008 the lobbyists donated $three.two Billion* to the House and senate contributors and final 12 months it's think to be approximately $three.7 billion*. that's hundreds of thousands for every one among them that they use to be reelected and likewise rent loved ones contributors and peers. Also the chairmen of the one-of-a-kind committees get a lions percentage of cash and I wager they are able to in flip support them funnel cash to the others. For instance, Sen. Baucus of the well being committee acquired hundreds of thousands from coverage and drug men. no longer determining him out however displaying how absurd it's for anybody that's think to be looking out for us over a special enterprise is truthfully being encouraged extra through the coins they obtain. So founded on final years donation it could be valued at $370 million extra to the Republicans.
