I have been on Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo for a long time and never had any problems .. one day my partner and I decided I wasn't going to stay on the pill .. so i quit taking it ... and then I went back on it about a year later .. everything was normal .. then within the past few months I skipped several pills and then I got back on track ...... & then all of a sudden I got my period that lasted for 2 months .. I have never taken the placebo pills .. but I do wait a week before starting a new pack of pills .. so this month when i got to the placebo pills (quit taking the birth control) my period stopped ......... Why is this?

When you skip pills it changes the amount of hormones that you body is used to while on the pill. by skipping pills you can disrupt your normal body cycle, hence the 2 months of bleeding. whether you take the placebo pills or not does not matter because they don't alter anything in your body they are simply like a reminder to keep you on schedule. Your period may have stopped because your body is finally back on cycle but it would still be a good idea to talk to your doctor.

I should think that would be obvious. You've managed, thru your inconsistency to royally mess up your hormonal balance.
You either need to take the pills consistently, or give them up once and for all, the inconsistency is what is causing your issues.

your body is really confused.
you need medical advice to get back on track and regulate your hormones.
good luck, and in the meantime, use another form of birth control because you could very easily get pregnant right now w/ the hormones all out of whack.

You're confusing your body and its getting really upset with you.

Why don't you try natural birth control methods? You don't need to take pills if you just go natural. You're going to need to give it a couple months or more for your body to regulate itself now... then learn your cycle.

You should never skip your period for that long. My doctor told me that it is okay to do it for 3 or 4 months, but then you have to have a normal cycle.

You should go see your doctor, or at least call your ob/gyn's nurse for help.

your body is trying to get on a schedule and by not being consistent it is like starting over. just be consistent with whatever you decide to do.
