Karl Rove asserted on the Charlie Rose show recently that it was Congress that pushed the Bush administration into war with Iraq. “The administration was opposed” to voting for a war resolution in the fall of 2002, Rove claimed. “It seemed it make things move too fast,” he argued.... This morning, former White House chief of staff at the time, Andrew Card, appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe and completely discredited Rove’s argument.

I'm reminded of HR Haldeman. I've never read his book about watergate. But according to John Sirica, it was simply a retelling of what the administration would have liked everyone to believe; overzealous, rogue, low-level employees. No knowledge and no attempt to suppress the truth higer up. In other words, simply forcefully stating as fact things that every one knew to be false.
It sounds like Karl Rove is doing the same thing.
And, the more I think about it, he and Haldeman kinda remind me of one another.

No. Remember, Bush was very popular then, as was support for striking Iraq. They got the resolution into the Senate, which was narrowly controlled by Democrats at the time, in October 2002, less than a month before the midterm elections. That was planned. Democrats wanted to hold onto the Senate, and it was difficult enough in a very pro-Bush Republican climate, and were convinced that voting against the resolution would sink their chances in Senate races across the country, and don't forget that many of those Senators, Kerry, Edwards, Dodd, Biden, Daschle, were all considering running for President in 2004. So they voted for the resolution. They ended up losing the Senate either way. But trust me, if it didn't pass, it would have gone to the new Republican Senate and would have been passed. Same result either way.

So Rove's argument is that Congress gave Bush the approval to start the War too early? Doesn't Rove remember that Congress only gave Bush the power to start the war, they didn't actually start it? If Rove really said this, he might have gone completely crazy.

on a similar time as the Senate voted on the Iraq conflict selection, Republicans controlled the abode and the Senate grew to grow to be into narrowly controlled by using the Democrats. they have been given the alternative to a vote in October 2002 appropriate in the previous the midterm elections. President Bush grew to grow to be into general on the time, as grew to grow to be into help for marvelous Iraq, the Democrats needed to hold directly to the Senate, and function been compelled to vote for the alternative. If no longer, the Democrats probable would have misplaced the Senate appropriate then and there, and if it grew to grow to be into rejected the alternative would have been re-offered into the present Republican Senate and handed. comparable consequence the two way.

Do as your name appears. It was a republican congress, was it not? Both parties and most of the current presidential hopefuls were for it back then. Who knew?

Hard to pin someone down on this, but in my opinion it is my neighbor's fault. He is always starting something. I suspect if we looked hard enough at this we would find he is the initiator of this war. What a jerk!!!
