When i was 16 I was growing really fast. I was out with some friends and got lost, we were walking for ages, I felt weaker and weaker and soooo hungry...The colour drained from myvision and my eyes became more sensitive to movement and my hearing improved. Freaky huh?

I will never forget the hungriest I've EVER been, even though it was many many years ago.
When I was at uni, I had 2 friends who were ballet dancers with the Dance School of Excellence. I am thin and so were they, so you would think we'd have similar appetites.
But no. I was thin because I exercise, and I presumed it was the same for them, being dancers. But alas, I was wrong. They were very thin because THEY DID NOT EAT. I discovered this when I foolishly went to stay with them for the weekend. My goodness, I've NEVER been so hungry in all my life, neither before nor since. On the Sunday evening, I left and went back home, and Mum and Dad were just carving up a roast. I actually burst into tears of relief - it was like an oasis in the desert. I think I began eating the meat even as it was being carved before we got to sit at the table. Mum and Dad were so shocked at how much that meal meant to me.
In hindsight, I should have had an inkling that there might be a problem. Once, the week before, we had all gone into town together with another group of friends. The rest of us ate normal food, but these two went to the sandwich bar and ordered lettuce on rye, no butter. There was a clue right there!! Wish I'd picked up on it. I LOVE my food, eating a great meal is one of life's true pleasures, and if you eat well and keep fit, life's just great!

I had once tried an extreme losing weight diet and I only ate 1 puffed rice square per day. I did so for about 4 days and then I fell terribly ill.
Cheers to my fellow Celiac! I never experienced a long flight, but I was in an organised trip around Europe, where all the food considsted of fix breakfasts and sandwiches as lunch. Imagine me living 2 weeks only on breakfast milk and ham/salami slices taking off the sandwiches.

After I had my first child. I went into the hospital at 2 pm on a Monday and ended up needed a c-section the following morning. I wasn't allowed to eat again until Wednesday morning. Almost 2 whole days!!! I was starved!!!! I thought I was going to die. They let me have apple juice on Tuesday night. Previous to this day I hated apple juice, now I love it. BTW, I ate 2 hospital breakfasts (yuck) and was still hungry.

I passed out once, about 3 years ago, from hunger. I was shopping and kept telling myself I'd eat when I get home. I passed out right in the middle of an isle.

I was unemployed at a time when the unemployment rate was at the highest it's been during my lifetime, making it extremely difficult to find work. My wife (unemployed) and I lived on Jello Pudding and Ramen.

On a long distance flight when my pre-ordered gluten-free meal was given to someone else by mistake. 11 hours with no food is no joke for a coeliac.
