don't put her down?
she needs you. at 9 months, she is hitting milestones left and right, and this changes her world dramatically. she also could be teething. and around this age is when separation anxiety rears its ugly head.
my advice? invest in a good sling/carrier and grin and bear it. she won't be this age forever, and before you'll know it, she won't want you to pick her up and love on her.

My son is also 9 1/2 months and is not this way. If i put him down i put alot of toys around him so he can eep busy. You should try this. He is more than likely acting this way because he is use to being held, but you can break the habit by letting him discover things on his own and being by his side on the floor. Don't feel guilty, he is only a baby once but they do get too heeavy to carry 24/7. Good luck

You are an amazing mommy! Don't let go of her, she's only 9 months, she is a new person to this world and you are a new mommy, that's why you both need to use your natural instincts. Listen to that voice in your head telling you the right thing to do. Tough love isn't the answer for a 9 month old.

She's spoiled and used to you holding her so she cries when you put her down. You absolutely have to nip this now or you'll be creating a monster for yourself and others down the road. Put her down and don't pick her up. If you know she's fed, diaper changed, and she's feeling fine, then you know she's perfectly fine, just pissed that yout put her down. And she'll eventually realize that she can entertain herself and have fun by herself. Give her some toys and then go in the kitchen and do some dishes or something. Encourage her and let her know you're there but encourage her to play by herself.
The main reason I say that this is so important to fix now is because there's a girl at my son's daycare who cries ALL day long. She's used to being held at home all day and all night. So when she goes to daycare, she screams all day long because the teacher won't hold her all day. There are other kids to tend to. And the worst thing is that her screaming upsets the other kids. They don't want to hear her yell and cry all day anymore than any adults do....and they act out because of it.
It's important that kids know you love them and will be there for them but there's a fine line. I wish you lots of luck with this because it will be no easy task. Just remember, she's upset because she's used to being picked up and held. And imagine how much more you can get done without a baby attached at the hip :)
She'll be okay. It'll just take time!
** ADD **
It's true what they say to hang on to your kids because they grow up so fast. My son is now 1 yr old and doesn't want me touching him or holding him. He's a busy boy, out on the run, checking things out!
Is your child in daycare? And if not, do you ever plan on putting the child in daycare? Because if so, this will be an even bigger challenge for you if/when that time comes...

a lot of times when you put a baby down, they cant see you.. right?
elevate her so she can see you..
my baby sister had the same problem but we bought her this baby chair you lay her in and she sits like this / (diaganol) on the floor.
as long as she could still see us she would stop crying unless she was hungry or needed changing.
do not leave her un attended. this is how accidents happen and baby brands get sued for all their money.
edit:
i looked for something like it but i cant seem to find it..
its kind of like a bjorn except it stands on its own and the head is tilted up.
sorry i couldnt be of more help.

Mine did the same thing. I just got a Mai-tai and what a life saver that was. They can be $$ but look on eBay and you can get one much cheaper. look on cat bird.com for instructions on how you use them.
Nothing is wrong with her and before you know it she won't what to be held anymore.
it can be frustrating but enjoy it while it lasts.

you just need to give her some time alone and you need to give her toys and love but if you baby her or him then you will end up with a spoiled child who never does anything for herself or himself and it will come to you for everything or think that she or he is to good for other people.
