First of all, we are not, repeat not, going to get a playoff. That is not an option. So what I suggest is this: The BCS people do not release their rankings until after the conference championships. There are no weekly BCS rankings, only the final rankings.

This would eliminate all of the odd things that happen in the final poll. UGA wouldnt be ranked as high as they were and then dropped/jumped. VT wouldnt have been jumped because they would have never been ahead of LSU......It seems like this would make a lot more sence. And the hype would be just as high for this one time BCS selection thing.

It's a small thing that could make a big difference. Just wait 'till seasons end, then slot the teams. Besides, the final rankings are all that matter anyway. Your Thoughts?

sounds great we have two other polls the can be talked about all year long. it would also help if every conference had a championship game

I definitely think it would help, but I think we can agree it would make the season a little less interesting. There's something about seeing "#2 us playing #3 this week", rather than these two undefeated teams are playing each other. I think it works in professional football because of the playoff structure, so rankings wouldn't matter anyways. I agree with you that the final rankings would be more accurate, but I think in the end it would probably make the regular season a little less interesting.

That would be lovely. Except the best excuse the BCS people can give you for their existence is that all the confusion provides for more interest and discussion about the sport. They would never wait until the final week to release their poll.

I'm surprised they don't release it sooner than they do. Why not have a preseason BCS poll. It might be tough to generate computer numbers, but that would just lead to more controversy, which is what these people love.

I agree. I think that the only standings(poll) that was thought out and made sense was the final one. How could UGA be higher then LSU when UGA didn't even get to the title game? How could VT be higher then LSU when LSU killed VT.

Sure that would work if D1A schools were only allowed to play D1A schools instead trying to pad stat's with 1AA teams in the early season. We would see a lot of heart break for some big time programs, and a real champion.

I'm not sure how that would make any difference. If they are kept quiet LSU is still 7 and jumps to 2 and is still in the NC

THEY should get a playoff, WE probably will not because WE are not the BCS.

a playoff system would be so much easier than figuring out all of these bowl games, and it would eliminate all the whining and complaining from fans who think they deserve better.

Yes, Ur idea is great..
and I am sure someone up there has suggested this..
but I think they like all the confusion and hype they feel it is good for football..
just like the Britney spears hype.. keep it going.. and keep them coming back next year.. to better defeat the other teams..???

It is nonsense.. it is very logical what u want..
but go figure???
happy holidays..

It wouldn't change the outcome that much in the polls, and the computer rankings would be virtually identical as well.

there would still be the "projected" rankings
