Yes, if you live frugally you should be able to afford it. Keep in mind the other bills besides rent though; gas, electric, water, sewer. Are you going to want cable? How about internet? Try rent.com's roommate search or craigslist.org.

Lets see:
rent is 450
insurance 170
Food and gas 200 (or is that 200 each? i would budget 200 for food alone and than about 150-200 for gas)
your cell bill is only 30? are you on a plan with someone else?
There is electric mine is about 120
Cable/Internet again mine is about 130
Do you have furniture?
They are going to want a security deposit
What about health insurance?

You are eaily looking at 1300-1500 a month in bills. Which is more than you make. You would have to do some major scripping to get a place that expensive. I would look to get a smaller place. Most places want you to make at least double the rent anyways. So you would have to make 1800 at least.

Sorry.

What about all of your utilities, personal care (basic stuff like shampoo & soap), emergency fund? I see a lot of missing expenses. $200 for food is a little low, but for food AND gas is unrealistic. That’s way less than half what my husband & I spend on the two, and I’m excluding dining out from my calculations.

At your income, you won’t have money to go out with your friends. Housing shouldn’t be more than 30% of your *take home* pay. If the 1,200 is your take home, you’re still at 38% so you’re pushing it.

Good for you...You would also need a place with utilities paid. My son had roommates when he was first on his own .... it was a nightmare. You run the risk of the 2nd party not paying on time or not at all. His last roommate was the last straw ... he came home and the guy had tried to commit suicide. Try finding a bachelor flat with utilities paid. That way no risk of brain damage. Good luck with your search.

how much for utilities - electric gas water

who's the roomie ? what if they 'walk' out on the lease?

so you make 1200 - what is your take home pay?

all looks like a lot of money - until you start paying bills

be careful

look to rent a room....or look for someone else who already has a place that needs a roommate them selves...and i would think about another part time job to have a couple of extra bucks..

If your still living at home...Stay there!! You don't know how sweet it is. Living on your own my sound cool but if your parents are cool and buy food and don't get on your case much... Stay there Man....Stash that cash!!
