What kind of person wishes to have a cyber relationship ONLY or mainly and WHY?
And I am not asking about the obvious practical reasons of someone being married, etc. But about the psychological reasons behind it and the right way to respond to such person.

accountability, or lack there of. Cyber-space allows a person to detach from the real world... it gives them a pretend world to play in... and as such it is no surprise that people would attempt to have cyber-relationships. There really is no "type" of person.. as just about anyone can get swept up into a cyber world... but those trying to avoid the real world would be more susceptible to such a thing.

Well, the person may feel socially inadequate in real life, but may feel outgoing and courageous online. People can completely alter their identites on the internet. Someone could be a dirty old man and pretend to be a beautiful 16 year old girl and no one would know.

My guess is that the person is socially awkward and is just looking for a way to feel wanted and feel "loved" by someone. Even though the relationship may not be real persay, the person still has something to look forward to every day.

Ciber relationships are not real, they are based on fantasy. This is the most exciting and mysterious part, people can base them on their ideals. They may or may not be someone they appear to be though.
