When I saw this story I first thought "How bizarre" and "Wow, they're really crazy over there."

But today I was thinking about it properly and I figure that the teacher must really have been asking for trouble to do that. I meam, in a foreign country you're meant to respect the laws and customs there.

What do you think? Personally, I think she probably deserved to be asked to leave the country.

Wow such emotional outrage and anger over a question. You can tell religion is involved. God bless us all.

I did read it properly. Its common sense to me that doing stuff like this in a foreign land is a recipe for disaster.

When I remember the things that the likes of Abu Hamsa and the other mad mullahs have said in our country, I wonder why we don`t have ten thousand people calling for their execution, the vile rhetoric that they preach goes far beyond the naming of a toy, all of these evil people believe that the whole world should be Muslim and those that they call unbelievers should be put to death, it took us years to put Abu Hamsa in prison and deport Bakri, yet if you make even the slightest mistake in a Muslim country, you stand a good chance of being killed, I always thought that all religions promoted peace and the Muslim religion was totally against violence of any kind.

It was a political opportunity to have a go at us, she was reported by a member of staff at the school I believe.
It sounds crazy and will be putting a lot of workers in every field off from going to work/help in countries where extremist views are in practise.
I should think some people would be offended if a Muslim teacher called a bear GOD but I don't think the reaction would be so distressing. I don't suppose it would of crossed her mind as every family seems to have a Mohammed son.
We don't tend to call our children God.

Its a real shame that tolerance and common sense are not a religion because if it was this wouldn't have happened.

If all the decent law-abiding, common sense minded, tolerant people in this country stood up and marched to the same extend as the hate mongers - maybe - just maybe - things would be better.

Respect to the BRITISH MUSLIM Councillors who have secured this woman's freedom.

I agree with most of the previous posts: there is obviously more going on here than meets the eye. Ms. Gibbons is just a schoolteacher who was used as a pawn. She did absolutely nothing wrong. If the Sudanese government had a working brain cell between them, they would have chosen a more convincing pawn than this blameless woman...

Like everyone else, I breathed a sigh of relief when I read that she was on her way home to England.

How many Muslim countries raise enough food to support their people? Answer; 0 Countries like England and the USA give aid so these people can eat.
The sad truth is they hold a false religious figure in high esteem, when he should hurl contempt hurl on him. He was a known child molester, and these poor ignorant people should hate him.
That poor little teddy bear is innocent, Mohammad was not.

I think it is time that people allowed their God to control his religion. If he is offended, let him strike the offenders dead. Or whatever he wants to do.
People need to trust their all powerful. They have to learn they don't have to take revenge on his behalf.
Sorry, but if that teacher had murdered someone, or done something really wrong, I would have supported the country involved. But even Muslims can't agree if what the teacher did is wrong.
Some people like to take offense. And if that offense is provided by a Brit, even better.

my god think before you speak, my friend they wanted her killed not just deported. I understand you saying that if she knew it would offend but she did not. Nobody told her that this was offensive, what you must ask yourself is, is this person a bad person? no. If anything i would have thought it a good thing that the children would call something of endearment such as a teddy Mohammed but then like the teacher i have been told no different.

Why would not you go with a infant to think of a Teddy endure ought to symbolize a God or Prophet. Gods and Prophets are meant to symbolize desire, Kindness and Love. no longer worry and hate. they should get off the extreme horses and start up living interior the real worldwide. you do no longer execute somebody via fact they call a teddy endure Mohammad.

no i disagree

she was clearly unaware that a problem would be caused - after all, she allowed the children to vote for their name choices

she should have been advised that perhaps it was a mistake, but death threats? ridiculous

the reaction from the locals was over the top and unreasonable

she would be better off doing charity work in some disadvantaged area of UK and waiting for countries like this to move out of the dark ages into something like the modern world.......

people from sudan are not threatened with death and torture in UK if they commit a serious crime.... but can't be sent back to sudan in case they are badly treated on their return.....

Now that is ridiculous!

first, she didn't name the bear, it was the kids. second, it's a pretty stupid law and I doubt she knew about it in the first place. If she did know, and knew what the punishment was, why would she do it? and third, they could have at least explained to her why the bear couldn't be named Mohammed instead of just going off and demanding her execution. I think that is what they do in civilized countries!!
