Can anyone tell me what happens to the recipe books you purchase from the library? I've upgraded with Ivan to have a small kitchen. And I purchased a book of recipes you make with knives, and I tried purchasing one you make with pots, but neither appeared in my inventory or in my kitchen. How do I get started cooking??

Your cooking books are in your key items inventory (with the cave passes and the keys you collect)

If you want to use them it will have to be with a utensile you own. For example, if you have the cooking book for an oven (which you can't use in a small kitchen) then you have to go up and click on the oven. If you have the 'Instant dishes' book you can make those meals without any cooking.

After clicking on whatever utensile you want to cook with a screen will appear showing you all the various recipes and you can use that to guide you while seting aside all the ingredients you'll need.

You have to buy the untesiles from Ivan before you can use the books to cook with them.

Cook is relatively easy.

First, 'talk' to the tool you want to use to cook with OR talk to the little bar to work without one. To see the recipes click on lower of the two tabs on the upper left part of the touch screen. That should bring up the recipe menu which will show the recipes you have for that tool.

Choose a recipe, then click the upper tab, and you will get back to coking. Either drag ingredients from your sack the bottom, or use A to transfer them until the recipes match, then click cook to activate.

You don't HAVE to have the recipe to cook something, but without it you have no way of telling what your success rate will be. Remember that unlike other crafts, failing a cooking attempt takes your ingredients and gives you junk!
