Hi

I will be visiting Dubai next week. I need to purchase some gold. i'll be staying in Dubai for couple of days. Is it advisable to buy the gold in some gold souks in Dubai or should i buy it in Dubai Duty Free?
Which one works out to be cheap?
And what about the quality of the gold?

What about other shopping areas in Dubai Duty Free? I need to buy some toys, mobiles etc. Should i pick them up in Dubai city or in the duty free shops?

Please advise?

Regards,
Sk

Here are your answers:

1. All gold prices at Dubai Duty Free (DDF) are fixed and they are not cheap compared to Gold Souk stalls.
2. Bargain? - The best places are the stalls in the Gold Souk and the gold stores in Karama like Atlas Jewellery, Alukkas, etc.
3. Variety? - Gould Souk rather than DDF
4. Discount? - Gould Souk again.
5. Quality? - per Indian Standard (Specially from the South), Gould Souk is better.

Shopping? If you are looking for the cheapest price for any electronic items, toys, mobiles, etc.... go to Carrefour in City Center, Emirates Mall, Shindagha and Hyperpanda at Dubai Festival City.

Remember, prices are cheapest inside Dubai rather than the DDF.

Good luck !!!

well definietly the gold souk has a much more variety and it is bargainable so it is wiser to shop from there if you aren't in a hurry similarly other stuff are better to be shopped out side such as malls but the fact is that the prices of other stuff such as mobiles and toys are a little more expensive in duty free and the varoety is not much but in the case of gold i would absolutely suggest the gold market

I'm sorry but i do not know about the airport but Pampers are available in the supermarkets. There is a mall near the airport called Deira City Centre (about 5 minutes drive from airport) and Carrefour there has them. Enjoy
