woman or minority makes no difference, so long as he or she is not a Democrat

Evidently, Every poll shows that both Hillary and Obama can win the Presidency.

Not that they have a legitimate shot but that they could win (and either of them are likely to win). This says so much for America and it's citizens.

Every Poll shows that both Hillary and Obama would defeat any of the white male republicans. I'd say that shows we are ready.

I would believe so, at least the Democrats seem to be. I don't say this because it is a minority and a woman running to be the Democratic nominee - I say so because they are the two most popular front runners for Democratic nominee.

I also don't see why we wouldn't be - many other countries have led us in this department, especially with women presidents, so it's not as if we don't have examples of leadership other than primary-race male leaders.

Yes on both answers. Hillary is a brilliant lawyer, and now a Senator. Knows politics inside and out, her husband can assist her because she has entire "machine" of capable people who can step right back in and clean up the economy like we had in the 90's, just like we had to save the economy after the massive debts that Daddy Bush and Reagan left us with. Bill Clinton did get a BJ but the US had a balanced debt right?

Also, we need to redeem our reputation diplomaticaly around the world. Obama, is a brilliant man, does he have the political savvy? Im not sure yet, but color should make no difference at all.

Overdue, or let's just abandon the sham of the USA being the "land of opportunity" and the "melting pot" and let's just call it what it is----the Rich White Boy's Club.

I see some votes for Condi Rice here----Republican voters seem to really LIKE consummate failures. Apparently the more incompetent you are, the better your choices of being elected in a Republican environment.

At least Obama and Hillary haven't screwed up the world yet.

Well if the person is voted in the obviously yes. Would a woman or minority be elected? Remains to be seen but I think quicker a woman than a minority. No facts here just opinion.

It really depends who Oprah is backing. The large majority of Oprah watchers are undecided until weeks before the vote and don't have a clear allgeance to either party.

They make up about 12% of the voting public! That is enough votes to swing an election either way.

We have seen that any book in Oprah's book club becomes a #1 best seller in the NY times or Globe and Mail. I think the Oprah vote should be called the swing vote.

Gender and race are insignificant when it comes to high politicians.

They are, first and foremost, politicians. They toe the party line. They say what they must. When they get into office, they do what they must.

Their "womanness" or "blackness" are mere shells. They're appearances. We're voting for ideologies. America wasn't ready for a primate, but we voted one into office.

Are those facts? No. But would you dispute them?

I'm reluctant to speak for the U.S. (it's a big Country), but I'm certainly ready. Frankly, I'm sick of white men trying to run everything and messing it up which is especially embarrassing to me as a white man.

I am...I'm voting for Obama...has nothing to do with him being a minority. I just find him to be very inspirational and think we have gone decades without a leader. May be a long shot, but the front runners turn my stomach.
