Ive replaced the standard white plug sockets and light switches in my house with Metal ones. The problem is now I can feel a very small amount of current (like licking a 9vot batt) I have earthed all of them following the instructions provided. The wiring is 3 core Red, Black, Earth in my house. Ive also got the earth running from the socket face to the box it fits into.
The problem is only on one socket in the kitchen and the light switch (do I need to keep everyting off and call someone out?)

Im in the uk

Not sure if an RCD is the same as an MEM switch board it does have an earthing switch on it and all is ok with it or it would be tripping. I have slate flooring. Ive replace the plug and switch back to plastic but ive put my current tester on the screws, and I still have a current there very small comes up with the number 12

First question: Do you have an RCD (residual current device) - sometimes called an earth leakage circuit breaker? If so, it would trip out if there was an earthing problem.

Secondly, is there an appliance plugged in when this happens? If so, have the appliance checked out.

Thirdly, re-check the earthing to the one socket and light switch causing the problem.

Fourthly, if these two are in the same room, is it perhaps simply the floor covering charging you up with static electricity which you are earthing when you touch the metal?

Go to Lowes or Home Depot & get a tester. It looks like a 3 prong plug - but on one end, it has 3 lights. When you plug it in, it will show you if you have the wiring correct or not. You likely have the wiring reversed. The combination of lights will tell you what you need to change. Test all of your outlets - especially the ones you replaced. This unit only costs about $5 and is worth every penny.

Metal receptacle outlets and switches? What will you Brits think of next? I bet you have to plug things in very carefully with the socket made of metal. That would not be allowed in the USA.
