My personal Philosophy is an amalgam. There is no single source, and the inclusion of these insights needs no other credibility than my own reason.

I can't... most of mine are spin off's of someone else's with my own flavor and my own conclusions drawn in. I personally find that is why philosophy is so intriguing; I always try to challenge my own and try to see or include others into my own.
"If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants." - Isaac Newton
However, I can usually back up why I have come up with my philosophies, it is usually based upon something or someone who would be considered credible. (Sciences, Dogmas & Religions are usually what I would cite; if I needed to back up what I am thinking.)

If it's religion/faith/spirituality my answer is Jesus Christ from the Bible, but if it's more to Locke, etc. I would suggest (without laughing)
"The Dummies Guide to Philosophy" (as a starter), which I truly saw in a Chapters bookstore.

You are right. Even those living in relative isolation are amalgams of the past and shoulod know their sources.
Mine are, primarily, The Upanishads, Yoga, Brahmanism leading to Shakyamuni's Sutras leading to Chinese scholars like Tientai, leading to Japan's major genius, Nichiren Daishonin and his writings, leading to interpretation for moderns by Daisaku Ikeda and his multiple academic honors and accolades from major universities, to my own, documentable, experiences resulting from implementing those teachings.

it all depends on what you consider to be creditable.
for example, i could rattle off the names of a bunch of famous philosophers and intellectuals, and you may think:
"wow, this guy must be smart, i'll eat anything he puts on my plate."
while otherwise i could just say "life", and it is immediately called into question, most often put into doubt because i haven't written any books or baffled the masses with my bullsh--.
in short, what does it matter to you where or from whom my philosophic stance comes from? - philosophy is all speculation and endless theorizing anyway, so I say if it sounds good to you, go with it; the references that i may cite make no difference.

Let me see... I "cite" myself.
I do not hold to ideologies, therefore I can offer up no names nor labels of concepts, if that is what you are looking for.

None. I make up my own as I go along and if I am inspired by what someone else has to say, I will mix it in.
