yeah! well its fear, but they could be attracted to you..
i look at people's eyes if i liked someone, see whether they do..

There are a million answers. I normally freeze up around people I hate or cant stand. If he is afraid of you then thats weird. Most shy guys dont say much to the girl they like but they give other cluse that the are interested such as looking at you, being polite, smile at you somehow. What they lack in words they make up for in body language.
