I'm quite sure that the poster didn't know this, because this poem is floating around the Internet without attribution, but the poem quoted above, the one that begins:

The Christmas season fills our hearts with joy; Bright, happy days bring special kinds of pleasure. We're wrapped in the excitement of it all..."

is protected by federal copyright by its author, Joanna Fuchs. It is called "The Christmas Gift of Knowing You," and it appears on the Christmas Poems page at www.poemsource.com.

It can be used on personal cards under certain conditions. Please see the "Terms of Use" at the site.

On that page you'll also see other Christmas poems suitable for holiday greeting cards.

you could get a blank card for them and write a little poem, I've used this before and my friends loved the little personal touch of it.

The Christmas season fills our hearts with joy;
Bright, happy days bring special kinds of pleasure.
We're wrapped in the excitement of it all,
The sights, the sounds, the smells, the tastes we treasure.

Yet when we have some quiet time to think
About our finest blessings all year through,
We focus on our family and our friends,
And appreciate the gift of knowing you!

I know its a little corny but it works.

Christmas is a time for ending the old year, for sitting back and reminiscing, and sharing the gifts of love and friendship with our kith and kin. A very happy Christmas to you, and a very merry New Year, full of hope. Thank you for being you.

i usually go with the generic "happy holidays" bit for family/friends i havent spoken to in awhile or just really not all that close with...for close friends and family its a lot more personal..
