False, IMHO. I guess it's case by case; but for me, the dating scene always started with friendship which allowed my exes and I to fall back on that. Sure, at first there was a sense of uncomfortable alienation; but after both parties had overcome the emotions of it all, we were back to casual acquaintances with stuff to talk about.
