my network card is not being detected... its frustrating because i cant get on the internet. im not sure if i installed it wrong or if i need a driver. please help.

Some new network cards require that you install the software (driver) before you install the card (hardware). After installing the software, put in the card and boot up. Windows will find the pre-installed driver.

Normally when you install it and then boot you will see a blurb stating the new hardware was detected. If you did not get that blurb then it will never work as the system cannot "see" the card. Take it out and put it into a different slot. I have seen cases (few) where one slot was bad but a card worked in a different one.

try to install its driver but this time install it via the control panel>system>hardware>device manager. check if your network card has a problem(with a yellow ? mark). try then to install driver by clicking install driver. provide the installation cd.
