It affects everyone differently. You can't go by what your friend's effects were. You could always try it and if the effects suck, just stop the injections. As for the bone marrow side effect, it's such a small amount of people who have that it's not even funny.

I have the Nuva-Ring. You insert it once a month and the company will even send you an email when it needs to be changed.

Not everyone has the same reaction on depo. In terms of bone density loss it is also a common effect but takes years of continuous use. After a few years, your md may have you do a bone density scan to see if there is any degeneration. As for spotting, it happens for the first 2-3 treatments. After the first shot you may spot but the occurances are fewer with each injection. Most women don't spot after 3 shots and don't have periods.

If you think you can remember the pill every day it might be a better option for you. The patch is also a good idea if you don't have sensitive skin. That is once a week and you can make it the same day and set up an alarm on your phone for that day of the week.

You should keep looking. Depo has been shown to significantly reduce bone density levels... especially if taken for an extended period.

There are all kinds of horrible side effects. I was miserable the entire time I was on it. I gained tons of weight, and I was still eating well and exercising. That is a very common side effect. 70% of women using Depo Provera gain weight. Almost half have significant weight gain.

I know everyone reacts differently, so I will just tell you what I experienced: weight gain, hair loss, skin breakouts, depression, loss of sex drive, and extreme breast tenderness. I didn't have a period while I was on it, but some women (like my friend) bleed almost non-stop.

You should seriously view all the information about this drug before you get it. If you have bad effects from it, they can last up to 8 months after you stop getting the shot.

Good luck.

PLEASE reconsider depo!

TOO many women have horrible side affects and health problems because of the shot. Not ALL women have problems, but a MAJORITY of them do.

I would never recommend the shot, I was on it and I'm off of it now and a LOT healthier!

Please read all the reviews you can... start with this link:

and google "depo provera lawsuit".

Do not take it, it's dangerous. And you are going to gain tons of weight.
