Yes, but not everyone celebrates Christmas.
And not all children are good.
That cuts down on the workload.
As for only having 34 microseconds to make each stop, we all know that Santa eats a tremendous amount of sugar (candy canes, hot chocolate, cookies, etc). This provides his muscles with enough energy for him to move at near sub-light speeds.
