He embarked on numerous feuds with "legendary" wrestlers, gaining infamy for his blatant disrespect of many older, well-regarded names in wrestling history. Most famously, he spit in the face of Harley Race on the April 26, 2004 edition of RAW. At Unforgiven 2003 on September 21, Orton defeated Shawn Michaels in the first of many high profile matches billed as "Legend vs. Legend Killer", with the help of his stablemate and mentor Ric Flair. After the match, Orton was interviewed by WWE.com and stated, "I may be the Legend Killer, but as far as I'm concerned, there's no killing the legend of Shawn Michaels." Since then he is called the Legend Killer.

It's apart of his gimmick. I personally don't like it. I was a huge fan of him, back when the four main superstars were, Orton, Cena, Edge, and Shawn Michaels. I think he was a great wrestler then.
But the Legend Killer gimmick is just a thing to say that he is a good wrestler, and can hurt people. He has taken out HBK, RVD, Cena, and Cena's dad. Which in my opinion...That's pretty low.
Although these wrestler's will come back. Most of them, I do not like or agree with his gimmick and I don't like the wrestler / person he has become with it.
But that is only what I think, I don't mean to offend anybody, I'm just sharing my opinion. So please don't take it the wrong way.

He has beat a lot of legends in the business and tried to end the careers of legends. He faced Hulk Hogan as SummerSlam one year. Faced Mick Foley before also. He tried to end Shawn Michaels career (kayfabe). Also he fought Dusty Rhodes not too long ago.

hes better effective then the rock the rock takes a decrease lower back seat to him once you've forgotten i will gladly remind you that orton has overwhelmed the rock. orton has beat better superstars then the rock may want to ever beat and optimal on the prompt he retained on the grandest element of all of them. in case you didnt understand,now you comprehend. because his gimmick like a year ago was he was killing legends..
Sgt. Slaugter, Dusty Rhodes, Hulk Hogan (almost did but it didnt happen), etc.
