Depends on the type of pine tree. Some pine trees have very shallow roots (like the Red Pine). Others have deeper roots but the Pine is not known for being deep-rooted.

In Floirda the pine tree roots dont go to far down.
a 30 foot tree - roots only go down about 2 feet.
They blow over alot when we have tropical storm winds.

there are 3 tap roots straight down and common length is 1/3 the size of the total height about ground. So the answer to your question would be 5 feet.
