Why should the U.S. be protecting other countries? Can't they protect their own countries? Why should U.S. taxpayers pay for it?

I agree US troops should all definately stay in the US and I'm sure the world will be happier for it

We need to be in other countries, especially at times of peace. Some countries are unable to protect themselves, therefore they need a good ally. I'm sure we get reimbursed during shady dealings under the table.

The military has had bases all over free Europe since world war II and in Korea since the Korean war.
They are there to protect our interests in peace.
