Think you need to research Captialism a little bit more...because you only have a small fragment as an example.
You only show anticipation of possible markets. Which sold more? Which was more profitable? Where are they now? Which lines were canceled and which were expanded?
***UPDATE***
OK, seems most don't understand the term "Free Market". The Consumer is entitled to buy whatever they choose, and The Business can produce whatever they deem will sell. If you don't like it, don't buy it. If you really don't like it, spread the word so other won't buy as well. If the product line fails to be profitable, they should cease production or face going out of business. The power is in the hands of the consumer...what the big deal?

That's not just free market capitalism, it is also freedom of speech!
We have a local radio talkshow host who, after the beginning of the first Gulf War, insisted that every newspaper in the area print a full-page American flag for people to put up in their windows. Someone called in and suggested that instead, the papers should print both an American flag and an Iraqi flag, and eveyone in the area should be -required- to put up either one or the other. 8^)

I think you have a point. The government should step in and with their all-knowing prophetic wisdom they should decide on what products get produced, the prices those products should sell for and the distribution methods of the products.
We don't need any innovations or motivations for change in the marketplace. The government has always had the people's best interest in mind. And they have always done what is right.

I'll go you one better, all during the second WW , Ford, in Germany built trucks for the German Army, further with all the bombing we did to Germany not once did we bomb Fords plants.
At the height of the cold war, 60's, my dear father worked for a bridge crane company, they built the kind of cranes that are used in ship yards. This plant, working three full solid shifts, building the largest crane they built, loaded them on ships and sent them to Russia, what do you suppose the Russians did with these cranes? Build cruse ships? I wouldn't get to upset about T-shirts.

Yes Capitalism, free unregulated jungle capitalism kills and has no sense of morality or ethics.
Humanity deserves better and I reject the cynical idea money making is the only value. There has to be an alternative

Profiteering on tragedy is not free market capitalism, it is exploiting grief for pecuniary gain and is unethical on its face. It is analogous to selling drinking water in New Orleans for $10.00 a gallon right after Katrina.

Um and what exactly is your point? I lost my uncle on 9/11 and I hate how merchandise with the twin towers are selling like circus tickets, even still that's their freedom as much as I disagree with it they have a right to manufacture whatever they want.

So the Chinese make a shirt and it's the Republican's fault? I fail to see the logic.
