My dad had one of these"sticks" . They had inches carved on them like a ruler and you would stick it in the oil tank and it would measure the amount of inches left in the tank.
It's just like a big ruler.

I remember 10 inches was approximatly 50 gallons .
If any one knows where I can purchase one please reply here. Thanks

Just buy a 1" x 2" peice of lumber and transfer the markings from a tape measure onto it.

8' long should be more than enough.

Purchase a long dowel stick at Home Depot and measure off the inches with a ruler. Hint---Start with 1 inch at the bottom.

Make your own, come on, how hard can that be, unless you have an odd shaped tank, then you can ask the guy to fill the tank a bit at a time while you callibrate the stick. EASY

not to point out the obvious but you can use any long stick object....even a old curtain rod
the inches to gallons equation will only work if you know the dimensions of YOUR tank
i know how much oil i have in my tanks ZIP ZERO NADDA
been keeping warm by a kero heater only....not sure why there is not rioting in the streets over oil/gas prices ..its total bs
