Honey is fine to eat when you're pregnant. Your immune system can handle the very small chance that there are botulism bacteria spores in it. Your baby will be fine.
If you want to continue along these lines, I'm sure that evenutally the medical community will expect pregnant women to live in plastic bubbles and remain motionless so they don't explode simply from pregnancy itself.
Don't drive yourself crazy.

It is perfectly safe for pregnant women to eat honey. The risk is giving honey to babies under a year old. This is because honey can contain a form of botulism that an infant's still maturing system can't fight. After a year old (although some doctors recommend after 2), unless there is some other issues such as an immune system deficiency, honey is safe for anyone. There are some people who mistakenly think that the botulism will transfer to the developing baby, but the mother's system is strong enough to kill any of the possible spores. My grandson is 7 1/2 months old. When my daughter was pregnant she asked me if she could eat honey. I thought it was fine, but we did some research and she asked her doctor. All sources said eating honey while pregnant does not pose any risk to the baby. Additionally, it is perfectly safe for even babies under 1 year old to eat food that contains honey if the honey has been cooked into it (such as honey graham crackers or honey baked ham) since the cooking process kills possible botulism spores.

Honey contains botulism. It's safer to eat honey than it is to go to the store during flu season so don't worry too much. Stick with a brand name you trust & all is good. The only time you hear something negative is with home-made brands used. I imagine the person wanted to give you the safest answer. There is a huge fear factor when pregnant. They did it for hundreds of years before modern medicine, so calm is best. One year eggs are good, another bad, another year sugar is bad, another good.
The larger reason to watch honey or syrup intakes are the risk of pregnancy related diabeties. Moderation is key to everything. Enjoy this special time in your life & have fun with it. You will remember the happy moments more than anything else. Good luck! Congrats!

I am a medical assistant and a nurse aide, this is NOT true. I read it also and gave her a thumbs down. it is bad to feed an infant honey though, there can be bacteria in it that the infant cant fight off. But It is PERFECTLY fine to eat while you are pregnant. Good luck honey!

It's perfectly safe for a pregnant woman to eat honey. The gut flora of adults and children over a year old are able to fend off the botulism spores that may be present in honey, and render them harmless. Since the spores would be killed in your gastrointestinal tract, they would not make it into your bloodstream and therefore cannot be passed to the baby.

you can eat it while pregnant.
children under the age of one just aren't supposed to have it. However, I know my parents gave it to us kids, as babies, and so people before them, etc. etc. I know the "reasons" as to why childeren under 12 months aren't supposed to have. Now I'm just curious as to why it was ok back in the day, and not now.
