I have never found anything about Don Imus worth listening to. He was on the air for years and years on WFAN in New York and his ratings were poor. Now WABC got rid of their morning show which was third in the ratings for this old fool.
Go figure!
I do not think he should have been fired for what he said about the Rutgers Basketball players. He should have been fired because he has no ratings!

Many people seem to confuse "right to free speech" with the notion of "the right to be heard." He has no right or freedom to continue a show, if the owners decide to boot him. It's only censorship if the government is involved.
I don't think Imus should have been fired. What he said was no more or less crass than he or any other irreverent talk show host.

I don't care about Don Imus and won't listen to his show anymore now than I did before (which was never).
However, as the free speech advocates point out, it is a victory for the 1st amendment.
Next time, let the market dictate the content of one's speech. If the sponsers don't like the speech, then they are free to pull their ads and go somewhere else. At that point, if the show cannot find new sponsers, then they go off the air.

His nappy head should have never been taken off the air in the first place. I don't listen to him, I am not a fan, but he has the right to say it. PCism will be the death of us all!

He's disgusting. Freedom of speech? Yeah, maybe, but the airwaves are run by private companies and sponsored by private companies. They have the choice of whether to hire him or not. Why would they hire such a vicious, foul-mouthed monster? Words can hurt, and he's determined to hurt everybody he can. He's filth.

He should never have been fired.
If his sponsers pulled out and he got no money and had to sut down, that's different.
But fired? No. He has freedom of speech.

I don't care either way. I have always exercised my freedoms by choosing not to listen to the gasbag.
