I buy all of my music in the format of Compact Discs (CDs) and use a couple of programs to rip the CDs to the computer. One is called Exact Audio Copy and hte other is called LAME compressor. The two work together, and extract the music directly to MP3 format. I've linked to both programs' websites in the sources section.
