Shelly - the book M*A*S*H was based on the movie M*A*S*H (not specifically the television series). Just an FYI - there were approximately 12 or 13 M*A*S*H books published. Most were written by Richard Hooker. I read most of them about 20 years ago. The books are VERY FUNNY and feature characters from the movie (specifically Hawkeye Pierce and Trapper John McIntyre).

If you dad liked the movie or television series M*A*S*H he will enjoy the book. Other titles in the series are M*A*S*H goes to Maine, M*A*S*H goes to New Orleans, M*A*S*H goes to Vienna. ,M*A*S*H goes to Paris, etc. .

It's the catalyst of the movie M*A*S*H*, which was the catalyst of the TV show by the same name. I read the book a long time ago - like when I was in my teens - and I'm pushing 50 now.

Books don't generally get movies made out of them unless they are very good/popular.
